1. Who the controller is
Controller: Alex Jimmy Montaño Fuentes. Contact email: contact@quedemi.com.
2. What data we process, what for, and on what basis
Your account — email address and password. To create and maintain your account, verify your email and let you recover access. Basis: performance of the contract you accept when you sign up.
Your profile — name and approximate location, both optional. Location is only stored if you allow your browser to share it, and is used to show you nearby publications. Basis: performance of the contract.
Your publications — photographs, description, details of the animal, place of the sighting, and any contact details you choose to include (name, phone, email). Basis: performance of the contract.
Your conversations — the messages you send to other users through the chat. Basis: performance of the contract.
Alerts about nearby publications — by email or as a notification on your device. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from your account settings.
Technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and date and time. To keep the service running and detect abuse. Basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service and the people who use it.
Usage measurement — pages visited, where you arrive from, country, device type and browser, across the public website, the application and Quedemi Protect. We use no cookies and no identifier that stays on your device: the IP address is only used to work out the country and is discarded afterwards, and visitors are counted with a value that changes every day and cannot be traced back to you. The measurement tool is ours and runs on our own server in Spain, so this data is not handed to any third party and does not leave the European Union. Basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the service is used in order to improve it.
Requests for access to the rescuers portal — name, email address, whether you apply as an individual or as an organisation, the area where you operate, a description of your activity and, if you provide it, a link to your website or social media. To assess the request and manage access to the portal. Basis: your consent, which you may withdraw by writing to us.
Quedemi Protect (companies) — legal name, tax ID, billing address and contact email. To provide the seal service and issue invoices. Basis: performance of the contract and compliance with commercial and tax obligations.
Providing an email address is necessary to have an account: without it you cannot register. The rest of the data is optional, although without a location we cannot show you nearby publications.
If you use the scanner without signing in, we store a technical cookie (qd_scan_quota) in your browser to count the free scans you have made. It expires after 24 hours and is not used to identify you or for advertising.
3. Who can see your data
Other users. Publications are public: anyone can see a publication page, including its photographs and the place of the sighting, even without an account. Any contact details you include are only shown to registered users. Photographs are reachable through their web address. What you write in the chat is received by the person you are talking to.
Providers working for us: hosting and infrastructure, databases, email delivery, device notifications, error diagnostics, anti-bot verification on forms and, in Quedemi Protect only, payment processing.
We may also disclose data where a law requires it, or where requested by judges, courts or competent authorities.
4. Transfers outside the European Union
Our servers, database and email delivery are located in the European Union. Some of the providers mentioned belong to groups headquartered in the United States and may process data outside the European Economic Area. In those cases the transfer relies on an adequacy decision of the European Commission or, failing that, on standard contractual clauses approved by the Commission. You can request a copy of those safeguards by writing to contact@quedemi.com.
5. How long we keep it
Your account and your content: for as long as your account stays open. When you delete it, the data identifying you is replaced with random values, irreversibly.
Chat messages: they are kept, because the conversation also belongs to the other person, but they stop being associated with you when you delete your account.
Technical logs: for as long as they are needed to keep the service secure and detect abuse.
Rescuer access requests: for as long as the aid program remains active, whether they are approved or rejected. You may ask us to erase them at any time.
Quedemi Protect billing data: for the periods required by commercial and tax law, up to six years.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access your data, rectify it, erase it, restrict its use, object to us processing it, and receive it in a portable format. You can also withdraw at any time any consent you gave us, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To exercise them, write to contact@quedemi.com. We will reply within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
